A native of Tunica, Mississippi, Clarence Irby began his career with Entergy Mississippi (then Mississippi Power & Light) in 1987 on the transmission crew.
He started at the groundman level position in Sardis and progressed through apprentice lineman before being promoted to journeyman lineman in 1990 in Drew. He spent the next 11 years in the Cleveland network as a journeyman.
In 2001, Irby was promoted to operations coordinator in Pearl. In 2004, he became supervisor in the Jackson Network and was promoted in 2010 to region manager in Clinton for the southern region. In 2013, he was promoted to senior manager of region customer service in Entergy Arkansas. Irby returned to Mississippi in February 2016 as senior manager of southern region customer service. He assumed his current role as director of central region distribution operations in 2018.
Irby has a degree in business management from Jackson State University and is currently pursuing his MBA through Louisiana State University.
