As the manager of Entergy Mississippi’s communications department, Joey Lee is responsible for leading a talented staff in the company’s award-winning communications efforts that include strategic planning, external and internal communications, advertising and crisis communications. He also serves as public information officer for Entergy Corporation, leading communication efforts during crises and events like Hurricane Harvey.
Under his guidance, the company has implemented communications initiatives that have helped with the successful passage of several key regulatory orders, including a formula rate plan, a move into the Midcontinent Independent System Operator and the company’s first rate case in more than a decade.
Prior to joining Entergy, Lee was with the GodwinGroup, a regional advertising and public relations agency, where he specialized in crisis communications and issues management. In this role, he handled a wide variety of crises and issues, including the largest oil spill in Mississippi history, hostage situations, gas-well explosions, an animal attack at a zoo, chemical releases and a company that received the largest punitive fines ever levied by the U.S. Department of Environmental Quality, just to name a few.
His last position with the agency was heading up its Gulf Coast office, where he was responsible for providing clients with calculated and creative communications solutions and new business development.
With more than 20 years in the field, Lee has a diverse background of experience ranging from industrial and manufacturing to banking and healthcare.
He has an undergraduate degree in fine art from Louisiana State University and a master’s degree in mass communication from the University of Southern Mississippi.
