As part of Entergy Mississippi's "Bright Future" plan, Entergy implemented Mississippi's first-ever utility-owned solar project. The Entergy Mississippi Solar System pilot project, which includes three stations in Hinds, Desoto and Lincoln counties, provides electricity for approximately 175 single-family residences. All stations began producing power by the end of 2015.

This is a pilot project to collect data and help determine the economics and feasibility of solar generation in Mississippi. The study results will help guide comparisons of solar generation to other generation options in the EMI territory, and the study will help provide insight on the more optimal locational and technical details of future solar projects.

Each of the stations is equipped with a data acquisition system, which gathers the amount of power produced, solar irradiance and other weather-related data. The real-time monitoring is available here.
