Let your new home save you energy and money.
The Entergy Mississippi Residential New Construction Program offers energy-saving upgrades and promotes energy-efficient construction in the new home market.
Homes that participate in this program are constructed to exceed typical energy-saving upgrades. These homes perform better for the homeowner and the environment thanks to a variety of energy-efficient features, such as high efficiency heating and cooling equipment, ENERGY STAR® certified appliances, effective insulation, tight ducts and even wiring for electric vehicle charging.
Mississippi’s new home buyers are encouraged to consider the long-term benefits of an energy-saving home. These homes offer built-in quality and comfort and are constructed more efficiently than standard homes. Helping homeowners save money and energy for years to come.
Benefits
Savings |
Saving energy means saving money. Typical energy savings could exceed 20% when the energy-saving upgrades below are installed. |
Comfort |
Properly installed energy-efficient improvements deliver better protection against cold, heat, drafts and more. Homes with energy-conscious upgrades help ensure consistent temperatures between and across rooms providing greater comfort. |
Quality & Value |
By building an energy-efficient home, you can be confident that it will have increasingly valued features when the time comes to sell. |
A Cleaner Environment |
A whole-home approach to improving energy efficiency and comfort in homes reduces energy use, resulting in lower greenhouse gas emissions that contribute to climate change. |
Features
New energy-efficient homes perform better for the homeowner and the environment, thanks to a variety of energy-efficient features that are now incentivized through Entergy Mississippi.
HVAC Equipment |
As much as half of the energy used in homes today goes to heating and air conditioning. Installing ENERGY STAR certified equipment improves comfort, reduces energy use and provides lasting energy savings for homeowners. |
ENERGY STAR Certified Appliances | |
Clothes Dryer
|
ENERGY STAR certified clothes dryers use approximately 20% less energy than conventional models without sacrificing features or performance. |
Clothes Washer
|
ENERGY STAR certified clothes washers use approximately 25% less energy and 45% less water than conventional washers, saving up to $550 in energy and water over their lifespan. |
Refrigerator
|
Refrigerators consume the most energy out of all kitchen appliances in a traditional household. An old refrigerator uses approximately 35% more energy than a new ENERGY STAR refrigerator. |
Heat Pump Water Heater
|
Water heaters are the second highest source of energy usage in an average American home. ENERGY STAR heat pump water heaters can save a typical household of four up to $330 per year on their Entergy bill compared to a standard electric water heater. |
Smart Thermostat
|
ENERGY STAR smart thermostats deliver optimal energy savings and home comfort at the same time. |
LED Lighting* |
ENERGY STAR certified LEDs last 13+ years and use 90% less energy than standard bulbs. |
Manual-D Duct Design* |
Manual-D design ensures efficient and effective duct design providing optimum energy efficiency and comfort. |
Duct Sealing* |
In a typical home, about 20% of the air that moves through the duct system is lost due to leaks, holes and poorly connected ducts. Duct sealing reduces air escaping through leaky, poorly insulated or inefficient ducts increasing comfort and reducing energy costs. |
Ceiling Insulation* |
Proper ceiling insulation helps reduce energy costs by keeping interior temperatures warm in the winter and cool in the summer. |
Electric Vehicle Charger Wiring* |
Prewiring garages for future installation of EV chargers adds to the environmental and cost saving benefits of owning electric vehicles. |
*Available to single-family homes only. |
